Safety Training

  All Department of Veterinary Medicine Faculty, Staff, and Students are required to complete General, Laboratory, and assigned IACUC training. General and laboratory training may be either UA Statewide ( Dashboard) or 香港六合彩开奖直播-specific requirements (EHS&RM).

 

Required General Training
all faculty, staff and students

  • Department Emergency Action Plan (DEAP) 鈥 Annual Renewal
  • The Veterinary Medicine DEAP quiz covers Arctic Health Research Building, Murie, and Irving I Annex. Differences between the DEAP documents are highlighted within each document.
  • Title IX - Annual renewal
  • Protection of Minors - Annual renewal for authorized adults (see below)
    • An 鈥渁uthorized adult鈥 is someone who works directly with minors (e.g. minors shadowing or volunteering; camps and programs).
      • If you are not an authorized adult (working directly with minors) complete Protecting Children 鈥 Shine a Light accessed through the EduRisk Learning Portal. You will need to register at the site to get access to the training module.
      • If you are an authorized adult (working directly with minors) complete Protection of Minors 鈥 Duty to Report: Mandated Reporter and one additional module based on your role (contact Susan Harry, sharry2@alaska.edu, to determine the second training module). This training is available at in My Community/Learning Library Tier 2 鈥 Position Required Training. Training must be renewed annually and a different 2nd module must be taken each time training is renewed.
  • Hazard Communication GHS

    • There are different training modules depending on your working environment (e.g. office/classroom only or office/classroom and lab). They are available at the EHS&RM Required Training page.

  • Employee Safety Orientation
  • Office Safety
  • Slips Trips and Falls

  • Workplace Harassment Protection (not required if you have completed Anti-Bullying in the Workplace which is no longer available)
  • Behavior Based Safety (not required if you have completed both Hazard Communication and Injury and Illness Prevention which is no longer available)
  • FERPA 鈥 Annual renewal

Each of the above training modules is available at in My Community/Learning Library. Workplace Harassment Protection and Behavior Based Safety are Tier 1 鈥 UA Employee Required Training and FERPA is Tier 2 鈥 Position Required Training.

Required Laboratory Training
all faculty, staff, and students who work in labs, including Veterinary Medicine teaching labs

*These are required by all who work in Veterinary Medicine teaching labs as these chemicals are present and may be in active use in the labs.

 

Task-Specific Research Lab Training

faculty, staff, and students working in research labs

Required for those who work with the specific hazard in a research laboratory setting 鈥 Verify requirements with your faculty mentor

  • Understanding Safety Data Sheets (highly recommended)
  • Methylene Chloride

  • Laboratory Safety for Non-Laboratory Personnel
