Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±Ö±²¥

As a relative newcomer to Alaska, my passion project is advocating for in-person learning and e-campus reform at Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±Ö±²¥. The expansion of the e-campus at Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±Ö±²¥ has been largely at the expense of in-person instruction, which discriminates against so many students who pay thousands of dollars for on-campus housing and to be taught by professors in collaborative, engaging, in-person settings. I am proud to promote the rights of all students so that we receive the promised value of the education that we pay for.

I joined ASÏã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±Ö±²¥ to help organize and grow the student body. My passion is to help in the continual effort to create a safe and sustainable community on campus. As well as encouraging students to get involved and use their voice to bring about positive changes they would like to see. In the senate, I focus on reducing costs associated with education and campus living.

Majoring in Business Administration and minoring in Environmental Change, Sammy Bass is a passionate advocate for environmental preservation and oceanic health. Bass is committed to promoting clean energy, sustainable practices, and conservation efforts. With experience in addressing pollution and restoring natural habitats, Bass emphasizes collaboration and practical solutions. Bass’s focus is on reducing plastic waste, protecting marine life, and combating climate change, while also encouraging individuals to take personal responsibility for the environment. Outside of the Senate, Bass enjoys participating in beach clean-ups, running, biking, and connecting with nature.

My passion project is ensuring students are receiving the benefits they are paying thousands of dollars for. Every student deserves proper living conditions, including the meal plans they pay for. Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±Ö±²¥ is a leader in research, and the students that live on campus deserve to treated as such.

Petie Deveer combines a deep-seated passion for technology with a commitment to community service, pursuing a degree in Computer Science with a vision to bridge the digital divide in Alaska’s underserved areas. Driven by a desire to leverage technology for social good, Petie is focused on using innovative solutions to address real-world challenges. With a strong connection to Alaska’s rural communities, Petie is eager to graduate from Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±Ö±²¥ and contribute meaningfully to the places that shaped their journey.

Senator and the Rules Committee Chair, Major is history. I don’t really have a passion project of my own per say. I have helped other projects for other senators such as the springfest dance and the Mural Competition.

I don’t currently have a passion project! I joined ASÏã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±Ö±²¥ to learn more about issues around the campus at large, and I’m looking to help in any way I can. I am most interested in preventing student costs from being increased, and I hope to work on that sometime soon.

Sometimes attending a university can feel isolating. I want my fellow students to know they are not alone, and that many programs and opportunities exist to help them find and develop community. Belonging is not just a noun but also a verb. Welcome! We’re glad you’re here.

My passion project is directed toward the social aspects of Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±Ö±²¥. However, I still care about the people's voice and making sure every bill passed is looked at from all perspectives. I hope to work on student involvement in events and eventually have an official ASÏã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±Ö±²¥ tradition.

I joined ASÏã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±Ö±²¥ because I want to make a difference on campus. I want to promote school spirit, with new ideas that can really make students excited. I hope to make every student feel at home, and look forward to the future of their time at Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±Ö±²¥.
